Centuries of Imperial Splendor in Every Stitch.
In an era of mass-manufactured accessories, Kundan Khas revives the meticulous royal jewelry traditions of the Mughal courts. Here is the sacred ritual of setting stone to gold.
The Secret Alchemy of Kundan
Kundan (literally meaning "highly refined gold") is one of the oldest living jewelry art forms in South Asia.
Unlike modern prong-set jewelry where stones are clamped with claws, Kundan requires inserting micro-thin pure 24-karat gold foil underneath each hand-cut stone. This gold foil acts as an ancient mirror: when ambient candlelight or banquet hall chandeliers touch the stone, light bounces through the depth of the gold, imparting a distinctive, warm, hypnotic fire.
At Kundan Khas, we refuse shortcuts. Every frame is hand-chiseled from pure brass, and every stone is placed one by one using traditional bamboo tweezers and artisan touch.
Pure Gold Foil Backing
Each kundan stone rests upon a microscopic bed of genuine gold foil, granting our pieces their iconic imperial luster under wedding lights.
Generational Karigars
Our artisans in Lahore and Karachi inherit needlecraft and jadau techniques passed down through four generations of royal jewelry makers.
Heirloom Longevity
Solid brass skeletal frames, anti-tarnish protective sealing, and plush velvet linings ensure each clutch becomes a family heirloom passed from mother to bride.
The 4-Step Journey of Creation
From the initial raw brass ingot to the velvet-padded keepsake case.
Architectural Drafting & Frame Casting
Inspired by the Mughal arches of Shalimar Gardens and the Badshahi Mosque, our master silversmiths cast solid brass structural frames that balance delicate feminine curves with unwavering structural integrity.
Stone Sorting & Grading
Tens of thousands of raw uncut kundan stones, moti seed pearls, and faceted crystals are sorted by caliper. Only stones that exhibit flawless facets and uniform light refraction are chosen for our bridal archives.
Hand-Setting (Jadau) Over Gold Foil
With jeweler's tweezers and heated burnishers, the karigar tucks gold foil into every individual collet before securing each stone. This phase demands up to 26 hours of continuous, unbroken concentration per bag.
Velvet Lining, Hardware & Packaging
The interior is hand-stitched with deep oxblood or champagne peach velvet to protect sunglasses and screens. Clasp tension is adjusted to a crisp, satisfying snap, and the piece is tucked inside our heirloom presentation case.
